Godthåbsvej Common House

Status: Built 2013
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Client: Private

The client desired a better utilization of the courtyard, and the vision has been to create a sunny multi-functional common house for the community of residents. The triangular shape fills the sunny part of the courtyard and has its longest facade facing directly south.

On the ground floor, the house holds a workshop, a covered outdoor kitchen towards a garden and storage space.  On the roof of the building there is a common terrace with views of the courtyard area.

The project is carried out with a facade of glass cartridges placed at varying intervals, which follows the house’s inner functions. The gaps in the facade creates a beautiful transparency and lightness to the environment and plays with the light.

A variaty of green growths are plantet at the base of the light steel steel structure which eventually will be covered with green.
